Alexandros Mavroudis, Product Owner at Gaming Corps spoke with Kongebonus about the thinking behind the new release, the continued evolution of the 3 Pigs universe, and how the team approaches keeping a successful franchise feeling fresh.
Q: The 3 Pigs series has become one of Gaming Corps’ most recognisable slot franchises. What made Easter the right theme for the next instalment?
Seasonal themes are a great way to refresh a concept, but only when they genuinely complement the gameplay. With the 3 Pigs series we already had a playful universe built around the pigs themselves, so the Easter setting felt like a natural evolution rather than a forced change.
Easter naturally lends itself to ideas of discovery and reward. Eggs, baskets and hidden prizes all fit neatly into a game where players are collecting symbols and building towards a feature. That alignment between theme and mechanics allowed us to introduce something visually fresh while still keeping the personality and humour that players already associate with the series.
Q: For players discovering the title for the first time, what is the core gameplay experience of 3 Easter Pigs?
The game follows the framework players already recognise from the franchise. It runs on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways to win and centres around a Hold and Win style mechanic, which in this instalment becomes the Hop and Win feature, tying the gameplay directly into the Easter theme.
During the base game, players collect Prize Egg Coins and Easter Pig Coins. When the right combination lands, the Hop and Win bonus is triggered and the pigs begin influencing the round. From that point the pace of the game changes quite noticeably, as each pig introduces a different upgrade that can reshape the feature in real time.
Q: The different pig upgrades are a big part of the gameplay. How important was it to give each one a distinct role?
It was central to the design. When characters are driving the mechanics, they need to feel meaningful rather than decorative.
Each pig changes the trajectory of the bonus round in a different way. The Red Pig expands the grid to create more space for symbols, the Yellow Pig enhances prizes with multipliers, and the Blue Pig extends the round with additional respins and extra rewards.
We also added the Mystery Easter Pig, which can randomly activate one of those upgrades. That unpredictability creates moments where the feature suddenly shifts direction, which helps keep players engaged throughout the bonus.
Q: The game also introduces elements like Prize Bunny symbols and Collector Easter Baskets. What do these add to the experience?
They help build anticipation before the bonus even begins. In the base game, Collector Easter Baskets gather the values of Prize Eggs that land on the reels, so players can see rewards accumulating during normal spins.
Once the bonus starts, Prize Bunny symbols appear carrying fixed jackpot-style values from Mini through to Grand. They introduce another layer of potential during the feature and create those moments where a spin can suddenly become much more valuable.
Individually they are simple additions, but together they give the game a stronger sense of progression.
Q: The 3 Pigs series has grown into a recognisable brand for Gaming Corps. How do you evolve a franchise without losing what players enjoy about it?
That balance is always important. When players connect with a concept, they come back expecting a certain familiarity. At the same time, each new release needs to feel like it adds something new to the experience.
Our approach is to keep the core gameplay logic that players already understand while developing the surrounding elements. That might mean introducing new modifiers, changing how features interact, or exploring a different visual setting. With 3 Easter Pigs, we kept the underlying mechanics but introduced seasonal visuals and additional feature elements to give the game its own identity.
Q: Gaming Corps is also known for experimenting with formats beyond traditional slots. Does that influence your slot development as well?
Very much so. Working across formats like crash, mine and plinko games encourages us to think differently about pacing and player interaction.
That mindset carries over into our slot design. We tend to focus on how mechanics develop during gameplay and how different elements combine to create moments of excitement. Across our portfolio you can see that through proprietary mechanics such as Smash4Cash™, A-Maze-Cades™ and X-My-Way™, which allow us to build distinctive experiences while still giving players something familiar to connect with.
Q: Finally, what does the future look like for the 3 Pigs franchise?
One of the strengths of the 3 Pigs concept is its flexibility. The core gameplay works very well, but the surrounding ideas can move in many different directions.
That could mean exploring new themes, introducing different modifiers, or finding new ways for the characters to influence the action. As long as we keep that balance between familiarity and innovation, the franchise has plenty of room to grow.
Sneaky spoiler alert…. The Pigs will return for the start of summer in our much anticipated 4 Gym Pigs – Porky Power!
