In a recent interview with LCB, Gaming Corps COO Alex Lorimer went behind the scenes of the title to discuss how the team approached its development, why every mechanic needed to earn its place and how the game reflects the continued evolution of the Gaming Corps portfolio.
Taking the Pigs into new territory
From the beginning, the ambition was to make Star Pigs feel different.
Rather than allowing an established group of characters to dictate the gameplay, the development team looked at how the Pigs could be taken somewhere unexpected.
The result was a 6×5 cluster-based format, providing a larger and constantly changing grid where cascades can keep the action moving and the Star Pig Wilds have space to relocate and become involved again.
As Alex explained to LCB, the format creates the possibility for one result to develop into another, while allowing the Pigs themselves to become active participants in the gameplay rather than simply characters surrounding the reels.

Red, Yellow and Blue are central to the experience, with each Star Pig Wild connected to its own Coin Spins feature.

Collect gathers Prize Coins already visible.
Multi can increase the value of adjacent Prize Coins by up to 10x.
Creating three separate feature paths was an important part of giving each Pig its own role and introducing greater unpredictability into how the game develops.
The Star Pig Wilds can also remain active and relocate following winning involvement, while simultaneously charging towards their respective Coin Spins features.
That means the characters are not simply part of the theme. They are integrated directly into the mechanics of the game.
Making complexity feel intuitive
Star Pigs of the Clusterverse brings together cluster wins, cascades, moving Wilds, charging features, Coin Spins and persistent bonus mechanics.
With that amount happening beneath the surface, one of the key development challenges was ensuring depth did not become unnecessary complexity.
The approach was simple: every mechanic had to have a reason to exist.
The core gameplay needed to be understandable quickly, while giving players additional interactions and combinations to discover over time.
Clusters feed into moving Wilds. Wilds contribute towards charging features. Those features unlock different Coin Spins experiences, while the bonus mechanics take those interactions even further.
Rather than operating independently, the objective was to make each layer contribute towards the wider experience.
Building anticipation into every cascade
One of the reasons cluster mechanics work particularly well for Star Pigs is the sense that the initial result does not necessarily represent the end of the action.
Cascades keep the grid moving, while relocating Wilds and charging Pigs give players additional developments to follow.
Once players understand what Red, Yellow and Blue are working towards, even a regular cluster can take on additional significance. A Star Pig contributing to a win may simultaneously be progressing towards its Coin Spins feature.
It creates a simple question throughout the experience: what could happen next?
When everything comes together
